Smashwords

Smashwords and its CEO, Mark Coker, were featured in Forbes. Smashwords is an independent publisher of online books. They started with nothing and now expect $12 million in revenue this year.

What’s cool about Smashwords is that they are an independent company of 14 workers who support independent, indie, and commercial authors. They cater to the little guy (and the big guy too) giving them access to the big publishing corporations that might not otherwise be possible. Not only that, Mark Coker has been a positive inspiration to BookBarista.com and has pointed his customers in our direction so they could advertise with us for FREE:) That is an awesome gesture in this world of competition and it shows his spirit of professional duty to the lesser known guy.

So congrats to Smashwords, Mark Coker, and his staff of dedicated souls. You’re doing it right!

One Simple Question?

Why does BookBarista.com exist?

I wanted to create a place where people who write, collect, or sell books (and book related products) could show off their stuff and shop too. The site is for book folk. Book folk tend to be very bright whether you agree with their stance on particular positions or not. It is the writers and the readers of the world who make the world explode with new ideas.

It’s really that simple.
